Materials Marketing Announces Showroom Move to Historic Alamo Heights
Materials Marketing Architectural Stone and Tile is thrilled to announce the move of their San Antonio showroom from the Pearl District to 5424 Broadway—the historic Mobil Oil Gas Station—in the heart of beautiful Alamo Heights. With its iconic pegasus soaring above, the site of the new showroom is the perfect fit. It highlights the company’s appreciation for the past with an eye on the future of natural stone design, and that of the local community it joins with the move.
“We have long felt a historic location for our showrooms made sense; we pride ourselves in utilizing natural stone—a material with thousands of years of history, even before it is quarried—to create beautiful spaces meant to withstand the test of time,” says Materials Marketing Holdings CEO Timothy Roberts. “Each of our unique, hand carved products tells a story, from the generational artisans who craft each piece, to the memories each of our clients make gathered around a hand carved fireplace.”
Working with local historians and the building’s manager, Materials Marketing ensured the structure’s stunning historical features were not only conserved but celebrated; the tile roof, square columns, and curved arches were all preserved, as was an original tile fireplace surround that is now featured in the showroom’s new fireplace gallery. As clients browse Material Marketing’s newest location, they’ll find small hints of the history of the building, like the original rest stop bathroom signs and wrought iron window frames, mixed with new features like modern marble flooring, midcentury inspired breeze blocks, and hand carved fireplaces.
Open to walk-in customers following the grand opening December 2nd, Materials Marketing is excited to join Alamo Heights, especially in such a landmark building, and looks forward not only to providing the community with the highest quality natural stone and latest in architecture and design, but also to supporting the organizations and individuals that make the City of Alamo Heights such a vibrant, unique neighborhood.
